Let me ask you: When you are asleep inside an aeroplane travelling at 800 km/h, are you still or moving?
Joel, sitting in the seat beside you, would say, “You are still.” But Ana, playing with her siblings in her garden and watching your plane pass through the sky just overhead, says, “You are moving!”
Which of them answered correctly? Both, because each is answering from a different perspective.
In our lives, we may experience pain, affliction, loss, sadness and everything else found in this fallen world. And always—always—you will have the freedom to choose the perspective from which you look at it. The difference from the example above is that this change of perspective is not physical and visual, but mental and intangible. Consider this:
Manoel has a car accident and spends 30 days in hospital. It is up to him to decide whether to give thanks for the great deliverance God has provided, or to grumble because being in hospital makes him physically unable to work and will therefore cause him financial loss.
Being free comes at a price, and for some that price is too high. Robots are programmed to make the same decision whenever they face the same problem. We, created in the image and likeness of God the Father, are not programmed. We are free. The choice is always ours.
If your eyes are good, you will tend to make decisions from a positive perspective. You will see as the Lord sees.
Choose to be grateful.
